Pinewood Derby 2008!

We had 95 registered cars. Special thanks go to Dan Burandt, Jim Massaker, Ben Powis, Bob Monthie, Norm Reformat, Robert Husted, Nick Lydell, Gary Giovino, Ron Vohwinkel, and Matt Foley. Extra thanks to Lucy Monthie, Laurie Morgan and all the ladies and men who spent many hours preparing and serving the families who participated in the Derby. Many thanks to the families and friends who supplied food, and to the clean up crew and security volunteers who gave of their time to make this event a success. A big thank you to Ranger Ray Morgan, for his dedication to the young men and boys (not to mention the competitive senior citizen boys!) May God bless you all and may God be given all the glory!

What Is Christian Service Brigade?

There is no greater call we can answer than to be the tool that God uses to unlock a young person's potential. To that end, CSB Ministries provides weekly programs that enable men to guide groups of boys through adventure-packed, action-filled experiences that grow young people closer to God...and equip them to be our leaders of tomorrow.

The Crossroads Christian Church Christian Service Brigade is a program designed specifically for boys and young men age 8-18. During the school year, the boys meet on Wednesday nights where they are exposed to a variety of activities and Biblical lessons.

Who Can Participate In Brigade?

There are two different groups within the Christian Service Brigade program - the Stockade group and the Battalion group.

The Stockade group is for boys ages 8-11 (3^rd - 6^th grade). A typical meeting consists of active games, achievement and craft projects, scripture verses, Bible lessons, along with snacks and a story circle where spiritual growth is encouraged in our young men.

Our Battalion program designed for our young men ages 12-18 also meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00. This is an exciting program geared to learning a variety of Christian leadership qualities as well as having a good time! Additional surprise activities are being planned for our older boys.

What Else Do They Do?

In addition to weekly meetings, we have a number of additional activities throughout the year for our young men. Some of these events include:

• Father/Son fishing, hiking, & overnight campouts.

• Camp Hickory Events throughout the year.

• Pinewood Derby racing event.

Stockade & Battalion Programs

Begin On September 10 ^th

Our 2008  – 2009  CSB Stockade Program will be starting on Wednesday evening, September 10 ^th, from 6:30 – 8:00PM. The Tree Climbers (boys in 2^nd grade – age 7), Builders (3^rd & 4^th grade – ages 8-9), and Sentinels (5^th & 6^th grade – ages 10-11) will be meeting at the church each week.

A typical meeting consists of active games, achievement and craft projects, scripture verses, Bible lessons, along with snacks and a story circle where spiritual growth is encouraged in our young men. We are also planning some special events this year, which will include:

Our Battalion program designed for our young men aged 12 – 18 will also be meeting on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00. Annual Registration Fee:

$30.00 – Battalion young men (7^th through 12^th grades), (ages 12-18)   

$25.00 – Stockade Boys (3rd through 6th grades), (ages 8-11)

$20.00 – Tree Climbers (2^nd grade), (age 7)

Note: Maximum registration fee of $90 per family.

Registration and medical release forms are available. Please complete and return to Ray Morgan by Sunday,  August   31 , 2008  in order that materials can be ordered in a timely manner.
